The front brake calipers use hydraulic pressure to clamp the brake pads against the brake rotor. The friction between the stationary brake pads and spinning brake rotor cause the vehicle to decrease in speed or come to a complete stop depending on the amount of pressure the operator applies to the brake pedal.
Unfortunately, individual brake pads are no longer available and this is the only way to get the brake pads now.
